Hilda Park Vipers 0 V 6 SAFC Foundation Pumas

14th February 2010

The Vipers had had a good start to the season so we didn't know what to expect for this match. From the kick off the Pumas sensed that they could do well in this match but their eagerness caused them to lose their shape and discipline and they made hard work of finding the first goal. The Pumas dominated possession but could not find the net. After twenty minutes the ball broke to Jordan who struck a sweet shot which hit the bar the rebound fell to Ryan F who headed the first goal. Too often our midfield got drawn into scraps in the centre of the field instead of getting the ball down and using the width and this occasionally led to promising breaks from Hilda Park but our defence remained strong. The second goal was a great individual effort from Sam who broke from midfield with the ball and struck the ball over the keeper after a strong run, the keeper got his fingers to the ball but couldn't prevent our second goal. Johnny Brown got the Pumas third just before half time with a clever run and a cool finish.

Johnny Brown got his second just after the break will another calm finish and the game was well under control with everyone keeping their shape and smothering the game despite Hilda Park's efforts to get a consolation goal. Ten minutes from time the Pumas picked up a fifth goal, Johnny Hall showed a clean pair of heels to the Vipers players and an accurate pass allowed Sam to slot the ball home. The sixth and final goal saw Sam get his hat-trick taking the ball round the keeper from Jordan's assist. Final score 0 - 6.

Ryan Fowler was man of the match for his versatility and endeavour.
