Match Report SAFC Foundation Pumas 3 V 2 Hilda Park Vipers

27th April 2010

Due to fixture congestion we found ourselves playing our home fixture on a neutral pitch, the pitch was undulating and serviced by ferocious midges. The Pumas kicked off in the sunshine and even exchanges followed but the Pumas failed to settle and after seven minutes found themselves a goal down after a cross following a strong run down the wing from Hilda Park was guided into the net. There was was confusion shortly after when despite a clear handball the referee seemed to give a goal, in trying to stop the shot Johnny Doyle had collided with the goal post. The confused Pumas supporters looked on as treatment was administered, but by the time Johnny had risen to his feet the handball - goal had become a goal kick! Relief all round. The Pumas could not get their composure and struggled to pass the ball ball well. Things got worse on the half hour when Hilda Park Doubled their lead, but thankfully Tom had his shooting boots on and took control of the ball in the centre circle and shot from well outside the box, giving the keeper no chance.

The Pumas came out in the second half a different team and set about Hilda Park with determination and it didn't take long for their equaliser. Nathan split the defence in two with a perfect pass which Tom cooly put passed the keeper. Tom completed his hat-rick and grabbed the match winner when Jordan's pass found him and his run evading defenders was followed up with a shot. Hilda Park tried everything to get back into the game but the Puma's were too strong.

Man of the Match - Tom Cushlow, Hat-trick hero.
