Match Report Consett AFC Comets 1 v 5 SAFC Foundation Pumas

11th May 2010

This was the Pumas penultimate game of the season and whilst it followed a similar pattern to the last game, thankfully the outcome was different. Again the pumas struggled to find their composure and shape and laboured to contain an enthusiastic Consett team. The Pumas struck first when Nathan shot home from Jordan's free kick, but Consett were back on level terms within five minutes when the Pumas failed to clear a throw in and the ball fell to a Consett player who shot over Ryan in to the net. The rest of the half was messy and inconsistent, the Pumas had the bulk of posession but couldn't produce any goals and Consett were dangerous on the break and could have had a number of goals had they been more accurate in front of goal.

Once again the Pumas emerged a different team in the second half and took control of the game, they retook the lead when Tom gathered the the ball in the centre and dispatched a pass down the wing to Matty who crossed in to the path of Johnny Hall who headed in to the net past the helpless keeper. For the third goal the Pumas broke from a Consett corner, Johnny Doyle's pass found Tom and he guided his shot goal-wards, the desperately retreating defender could only knock the ball into his own net. Consett's spirit was broken now and they struggled to get out of their own half. Sam pounced on a goal kick and quickly passed to to Tom who lobbed the keeper for number four. Tom turned provider for the fifth and final goal and carried the ball down the wing and crossed into the box, again Johnny Hall was waiting to side foot home. Final score one - five to the Pumas.

Man of the Match - Jordan Reay, excelled in defence and worked hard all over the pitch.
