Match Report SAFC Foundation Pumas 2 V 1 Brandon United
13th May
So we'd finally caught up our outstanding games and made it to the final match. Brandon had been our opening game of this campaign and it had been an easy 8-0 victory for the Pumas. The Pumas started brightly and dominated the early part of the game but as has been common recently couldn't produce any goals. After 15 minutes of bombarding the Brandon goal, a long clearance from Brandon's keeper was mis-headed into the path of a Brandon player who shot into the Pumas goal. This unexpected goal shocked the Pumas and they lost all shape and confidence. The goal really lifted Brandon and they pushed on for another goal but were prevented by excellent defending and goalkeeping The Pumas made it to half time without conceding further, but a good talking to was administered during the break.
The Pumas started the second half as the had begun the first and were denied a handful of chances by the excellent Brandon Keeper
Thankfully the Pumas pressure paid off and Johnny Doyle and Matty managed to score a goal each to secure a hard fought win. The commitment was clear to see from the injuries sustained, but the team "nurse" was on hand!
The end of a very enjoyable season and the improvement is clear to see in the stats below.
